CFA Cat Shows

A cat show makes an interesting weekend. The visitors to such shows will see cats of every breed displayed in all their glory, in rows throughout the hall. The exhibitor gets six to eight different judges opinions of their cat, depending on how many show rings there are at the show. At a two day show, each judge will examine every cat entered and compare it to the breed standard. When any cat entered as an" Open" collects six points in the rings, (one point from each judge) the cat earns the title of "Champion". If the cat receives less than the required six points at a show, the points are accumulated and can be added to points earned at previous or future events. The highest ranking cats will be called back to be awarded a coveted Rosette in a "Final" class.

Although we have raised our Persian cats since 1988, we just started to tour the show circuit in the 2000 show season. While we learned a lot from the first shows, our cats were more of a pet quality at that time and the accolades were slow in coming. However, we were able to meet several breeders that were to help us during the beginning; still, most of the experience has been through our own determination and trial and error. Taking the time to read all that could be found about these beautiful cats, working side by side with my ever present and supportive husband and the caring of my veterinarians, we strive to breed the highest quality into our Persians and Himalayans so you can feel proud to show them off at the CFA Cat Shows.

Hope to see you there!
